The Silent Land

The Institute for Information on the Crimes of Communism

“The Silent Land” is a project by the IICC/UOK (The Institute for Information on the Crimes of Communism) devoted to increasing knowledge, especially among the younger generations, about the recent history of Europe and of the consequences of Communist ideology and Communist rule, focusing on personal stories of people who were victims of Communist oppression. The project carries out and collects video interviews, photographs, diaries and personal stories, which are published on the project’s web-based educational information source, www.aboutcommunism.com. Notable contributors to the project are Mr. Mart Laar, former Prime Minister of Estonia, Ms. Sandra Kalniete, former Foreign Minister of Latvia and Mrs. Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, former President of Latvia, as well as state institutions, museums and NGO:s in many countries. Participants and partners retains full Copyright to materials submitted to the IICC/UOK; the IICC/UOK reserves unlimited Publishing Rights to submitted materials for publications and promotional activities related to its projects.
