„I had a colleague who was sceptical that 35% would mean nothing, it would change nothing, it would make no sense, and I told her that it wouldn‘t, that you had to seize whatever they gave you, they gave you a fingernail, you had to grab it, you had to pull the finger, you had to pull the hand - grab every opportunity. (...) The day after the election, after work, I ran to the committee and it was a shock“.
Born in 1956 in Wrocław. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Technology. After graduation she moved to Toruń, where she worked at the Monuments Conservation Office. At the end of the 1970s she returned to Wrocław. During martial law, together with her husband (a mathematician by education and a photographer by avocation), she collaborated with the Solidarity Fighting Photographic Agency. The Agency dealt with the archiving and duplication of photographs, as well as publishing underground albums. At the end of the 1980s, after a parental leave, she took a job in one of Wrocław‘s design offices. Eventually, she and her husband decided to establish a publishing house „Via Nova“, which specialises in publishing books (fiction, memoirs, popular science items and albums related to Wrocław and Lower Silesia). The publishing house is still in operation today.
