Aung Naing Win (aka) Aung Jyan Myaing

Man who planted trees

He is a former political prisoner and he was tortured physically and mentally during arrest. His real name is Aung Naing Win and his pen name is Aung Jyan Myaing. He was born in Kyay Mone Village, Mongywa Township, Sagaing Region and his parents are U Chin Taung and Daw Gyan. He is still single and staying with his siblings. He studied at Yezin Agricultural University until the final year and he was involved in All Burma Federation of Student Unions (Upper Burma) during 1988 Uprising. He was arrested on 10 January 1991 for contacting with Burma Communist Party and sentenced to 7 years imprisonment on 30 May 1991 under section (17-1) of contact with illicit organization. He spend more than (5) years and (8) months in Insein Prison (Isolated), Yangon. He was freed in August 1995. He was physically and mentally tortured by military intelligence during detention. Now, he opens a book lending store and planting trees for regional greening. He is highly interested on peace activities and working on it.
