Francoise Daix-London was born on November 11, 1938, in Paris. During the war, both of her parents were sent to a concentration camp, so she was raised by her Spanish grandparents on her mother‘s side. After the war, the whole family moved to Prague to join her father, where Francoise attended elementary school. After her father Arthur London was arrested in January 1951, the family‘s situation changed dramatically – they were evicted from a government villa, and Francoise was only barely admitted to a vocational program as a toolmaker at ČKD. On October 28, 1954, her mother managed to return to France with the children, where Francoise studied film editing and worked in this field for her entire life.
